Assistant Accountant

An outstanding opportunity for Assistant Accountant who is looking to make their next career move and join a busy professional services business based in central London to join their accounts team. the right candidate will play a key role to support the operational side of the business.

The Role

The assistant accountant role will have two main functions. Firstly, working with busy consultants to assist them with the administration of setup, maintenance and reporting on project related time and expenses. This operational activity involves detailed reporting on project activity, ensuring compliance with project processes and understanding how this work flows through into ledger accounts. Secondly, the assistant accountant will support the financial control of the business through compliance and improvement of accounting processes. This will involve all the bookkeeping and accounting that supports the completion of monthly management accounts.

• Company banking reconciliation
• Bacs and cheque payment reconciliation
• Cash flow forecasting
• Fixed Asset ledger
• Purchase ledger
• Sales ledger
• Invoicing
• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• HMRC compliance

Essential Experience
Candidates will need to have an excellent working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and at least 2 to 3 years relevant accounting background (or be able to demonstrate why their experience should be considered). Strong numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail is essential, as is excellent Excel knowledge. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of deferred income, prepayments, accruals and the accounting of work in progress.
Qualifications and essential experience

• Part or qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant with minimum 3 years` relevant experience
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and Word and other MS packages
• Solid understanding of accounting and financial management
